Details: Extended Branding, Layout, Articulate Software, Character Design, Web Layout, Web Design, Training Design, UI Design, Animation Client: Paycom Objective: Paycom needed to launch a new online training course that assisted managers in conducting one-on-one meetings with their employees. They wanted something that was sleeker than their current aesthetic and didn’t rely on realistic depictions of people for situational storytelling. Solution: Keeping current UI standards in mind, the aesthetic is multi-faceted in its application. Subtle patterns, layered backgrounds and floating elements provide depth to a vector execution. Each element is placed to direct the viewer’s eye throughout the lesson in a free-form structure that maximizes use of space. Modular bars glide through the interface, guiding the user through the lesson while capable of forming into specific animations for demonstration purposes. Fulfilling the need to move away from depictions of actual people in the situational storytelling, I created geometric-based characters that are clean and simple in their design yet versatile in their customization. Hints of personality are added with cartoon expressions and simple features such as glasses, bows and hats. The interaction portion of the lesson follow the aesthetic of the videos while forming its own environment through the dominate use of white space.
