Details: Branding, Logo Design, Collateral Design,
Client: Drea Gates
Objective: Drea Gates is a "do-all" photographer who needed a brand that could expand the diversity of her work. She takes a serious approach and care when utilizing light for all of her projects, both technically and ideologically. Drea wanted to convey this philosophy while keeping her brand's aesthetic simple.
Solution: To fully understand Drea's passion for lighting, I researched the tools of her trade. In doing so, I learned how light bends and reflects an image to resolution through environmental factors and the photographer's use of aperture. Focusing in on this aspect of photography, the logo was crafted using the same principle of how light behaves with a camera. The letterform can simultaneously be read as both a "D" and "G" after reflecting across a vertical axis. The logo's formation was built on a geometric frame and complemented with sophisticated sans serif typefaces for a current and technical vibe. Features of photography reinforce the message with the use of viewfinder frames and film texture. A dark to light color palette of neutrals provide gravitas while reinforcing the light ideology.
